Gamal After-School Program for High Risk Youth

This project provides tutoring, enrichment activities, guidance and hot meals, in a non-threatening environment for deprived and problematic schoolchildren in extended after-school sessions. These children come from extremely deprived backgrounds: they come from broken homes, where violence is common. Many of the parents are unemployed and in despair, unable to provide decent meals or help their children cope at school.

The goals of the “Gamal” program:

To create a positive, supportive social environment;
Improvement of achievements in school;
Enrichment of the youth with cultural educational contents
(field trips, lectures, etc.);
Empowerment and increasing the youngsters’ self confidence;
Instilling values ​​such as: responsibility, tolerance and contribution to their community;
Nutritional security.
